Vladimir Putin has been sent a chilling warning that Ukraine’s devastating new ballistic missile will have the ability to hit and wipe out Moscow.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Tuesday the successful testing of a ballistic missile under development by the country’s military.

At a press conference on Tuesday, he congratulated army chiefs and confirmed there had been “a positive test” for Ukraine’s latest weapon.

Oleksandr Kovalenko, a Ukrainian columnist for the Information Resistance group, claimed the new missile could hit Moscow and issued a chilling warning to Putin.

“A Ukrainian missile will hit Moscow, hit something very important,” he told RBC-Ukraine.

“After which Russia will be given an ultimatum: either you leave Ukraine, or we will destroy Moscow and St. Petersburg.”

He added: “The most important events of the war are ahead of us.”

Ukraine has had to rely on its Western partners for almost all of its military supplies.

The US and UK have provided Kyiv with ATACMS and Storm Shadow missiles, which have been used to deadly effect.

However, both countries have placed limits on the deployment of their weapons. Ukraine is not allowed to fire the missiles at targets deep inside Russia.

President Zelensky has repeatedly urged Western leaders to lift their restrictions and allow Kyiv to pursue the war on an equal footing with Russia.

He repeated the call after Monday’s ferocious aerial bombardment of the country by Moscow, which saw over 200 missiles and drones fired at Ukraine.

In a Telegram post, he wrote: “There cannot be long-range restrictions in Ukraine, when terrorists do not have such restrictions. America, Britain, France, and other partners have the power to help us stop terror.”

Ukraine has successfully developed a locally-made drone-missile weapon system, known as Palyanytsia.

The weapon was deployed for the first time on August 24, as the country celebrated its Independence Day.
