M25 Traffic Live: Chaos As Lorry Fire Causes Major Motorway To Shut For 14 Hours

A massive lorry fire has closed the M25 between Junction 5 near Sevenoaks and Junction 6 near Godstone.
The incident occurred at around 10pm Sunday and has closed all lanes in the motorway’s clockwise direction. The anti-clockwise section of the motorway was partially open, however, lanes three and four remain closed near Junction 6.
National Highways said the road was likely to remain closed until midday.
It added: ” Specialist recovery will be required, and the road surface will likely need to be resurfaced.”
Emergency services warned drivers to avoid the area.

What we know about the incident so far…The M25 in Surrey/ Kent is closed clockwise between J5 near Sevenoaks and J6 near Godstone /Caterham
The closure is due to a serious heavy goods vehicle fire.
The anti-clockwise carriageway has re-opened, lane 3 and 4 (of 4) remain closed within J6.
This has also closed the M26 westbound between J2A near Wrotham Heath and M25/A21.
The clockwise carriageway is likely to remain closed until at least midday
National Highways Traffic Officers is in attendance assisting with traffic management.

At M25 Junction 5 follow onto A21 and then take the second A25 exit towards Westerham.
Follow A25 through Sundridge, Brasted, Westerham, Limpsfield and Oxted.
Continue along A25 towards Godstone to A25 / A22 roundabout.
Take 3rd exit onto A22 towards London to M25 Junction 6 “Godstone Interchange” and take 2nd exit and rejoin M25 towards Gatwick.
